Eterate Calligraphy is a calligraphy studio focusing on the art of penmanship, founded by Marilyn Chew in New York City, based in Singapore, available internationally. The studio aims to advocate the art of penmanship and bring the lost art of writing back into our society through calligraphy. We serve private and corporate clients from around the world.
ABOUT FOUNDER
Marilyn Chew is a Singaporean calligraphy artist. A mirror menu installation for a New York City cafe kickstarted her creative journey. While a Creative Producer in New York, Marilyn started her practice as a calligrapher. She trained in both modern and traditional calligraphy under various Master Penmen, White House Calligrapher and veterans in the field. Named Honoree of Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia - The Arts and one of the Most Fashionable Calligraphers by Harper’s Bazaar, she has designed for international companies such as Christie’s, Montblanc, and P&G.
She is a member of the International Association of Master Penman, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting, as well as the Society of Scribes, New York. She is a certified instructor of American Cursive Handwriting by Master Penman Michael Sull.
Marilyn gets her inspiration from books, travels, and the people she meets. When not in her studio, she can be found exploring other art forms and interesting experiences. She hopes that her work will be able to touch the heart of the recipient - whether it is to find comfort, joy or empowerment. She is always looking for ways to learn and share her love for penmanship.
